Launched in 2019, the event quickly established itself in the Capital District racing scene and beyond with over 2,000 completing the point-to-point downhill race. A whopping near 50% of the participants either completed their first half marathon or set a new personal best, led by Albany’s own Daniel Lennon, who absolutely scorched it in 1:03:55 running possibly the fastest time ever recorded in the state outside of New York City.
Produced by ARE Event Productions and showcasing Albany County’s new Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail, the event is a culmination of their longstanding aspiration to create a major event in their hometown. Building on their experience as a service provider to over 1,500 endurance events, including the Nike Women’s Run Series, National Championships, and the NYC Marathon, the production team and over 200 volunteers truly gave of themselves to create a unique and highly memorable event.
For the 2020 edition of the race, Druthers Brewing Company, a Capital Region based brewery with a passion for combining hand-crafted beers and all out effort on the course, is excited to come on board as the official title sponsor of the Druthers Helderberg to Hudson Half Marathon, and look to further enhance the experience for all participants by turning your post-race experience into a party at the finish festival.
On Saturday, April 18, as you approach the finish at Jennings Landing, you’ll want to take off your headphones as live music motivates you and gets you rocking for the final straightaway. Then head to one of the Druthers beer trucks to claim your free beer (two free beers to VIP runners) and cheer on your fellow runners while you enjoy the live music.
With massage therapists on hand to aid your post-race recovery, Bountiful Bread returning to provide a fully catered meal, along with other refreshments and experiential activations, the Druthers Helderberg to Hudson Half Marathon looks forward to providing you with an outstanding race day to celebrate all your hard work to get to that finish line.
Race registration ends on March 18. Volunteers are also needed and receive an event shirt and free beer courtesy of Druthers. Learn more and sign-up at http://www.HelderbergToHudsonHalf.com
